Testing of MKCT-1 – the switchboard for digital broadcasting

The test of the switchboard for digital broadcasting, MKCT-1, was performed on the basis of “Kurskiy Radio and Television Broadcasting Center”, the branch of Federal State Unitary Enterprise, Russian Television and Broadcasting Network on 28 December, 2009. The main goal of the visit was the  MKCT-1 testing in the “emergency notification” mode of operation within the population warning system about civil defense measures and emergency situations.

“Emergency notification” mode of operation is destined for the insertion of prepared in advance or received directly from the Civil Defense and Emergency Situations Headquarters video and audio in the transport stream of the first multiplex in all television and radio broadcasting channels. Thus, the digital television subscribers will be notified about the emergency situation regardless of what TV or radio program is on the air.
