Stream Alpha series devices for graphics and titles output and overlay work in real time in GENLOCK mode by inserting the graphic information into pass-through video signal. The pass-through signal, despite everything, does not change, it is not decoded, not filtered and not compressed.
Complete with the suitable software our cards can perform a wide spectrum of tasks as a part of the television system working on editing and on the air:
- TV-program titling while editing or on the air, manually or in automatic mode;
- TV-channel / program static or dynamic logo display;
- Automated time or temperature display;
- Telephone voting results broadcast;
- Any kind of analog or digital clocks generation and display;
- Informational and graphic design of interactive talk-shows, news and sports reports;
- Scheduled output of commercial and informational blocks;
- Text and graphic information display in form of crawl and roll;
- Animation files and video clips (in 4:4:4, 4:2:2, DV Type II and AVI formats) playback;
- Teletext and subtitles insert.
9 reasons why you should choose "Stream Labs" cards:
- First and foremost advantage of our overlay cards is the implementation of cutting-edge technologies. We incorporate state-of-the-art technologies for video signal processing and cutting-edge achievements from the world of microelectronics in our designs. Stream Labs cards use components and microchips only from the leading electronic companies, such as Analog Devices, Phillips, Altera, Gennum, Elantec and others.
- Another fundamental characteristic of our cards is digital image formation path. If you do not wish to be periodically occupied by tuning your equipment, use devices with digital circuitry, such as Stream Alpha cards. For over three years we have been using only digital path.
- Quality of the formed signal, which is a consequence of points 1 and 2, implies an impeccable image assessed by specialized measuring instruments. It is impossible to estimate the quality of professional equipment in the household way "by eye", only special measurements can indicate the suitability of the equipment for professional use.
- No changes in pass-through signal. In a regular mode the card passes through a signal without changes, inserting overlayed graphics only in the specified places. This is the main principle of overlay cards operation in general and Stream Alpha in particular. In addition, there's a mode of coding and decoding of a pass-through signal with the help of the newest Phillips microchips that, for example, restore synchronization at bad quality of an incoming signal. It also allows to have a free choice of standard for input and output (transcoding).
- Using Altera Programmable Logic devices (EPLD) allows to increase the reliability of the circuit, in which they are used, significantly; in fact these microchips replace tens of usual microcircuits with all their "bundling" of resistors, capacitors, etc., each of which can fail.
- Manufacturing. The manufacture of printed-circuit-boards is placed at a factory in Taiwan, which offers a twenty years' guarantee from delamination, contact loss on via-holes, etc. The factory is fully certified, including the most rigid American standards.
- Assembly. Card manufacturing and component mounting is performed in plant conditions on ERSA equipment while meeting all the technological requirements, with a guarantee from overheating and other events, which could lead to premature failure of a product.
- Compactness. Throughout the years all Stream Alpha card solutions have consisted of one PCI-card, not connected in any way with the basic video adapter and other additional cards. This allows to install them in RACK 19" 1U cases, ex. in ASUS 1U RS120-E4-PA2.
- Alpha-channel. Overlaying computer graphics on TV-image can be made both inside the card and on an external mixer with use of a key signal formed by the card. For this purpose all cards have an analog alpha-channel (Key) output. Alpha-channel key video signal is ideally combined with the video signals submitted to an external mixer, however for special tasks, the program of the card adjustment allows to set both positive and negative delay of a key signal relative to the output graphics within a wide range.
