2.1 Prerequisites

Before you begin

Carefully review this section before starting the design and installation of MultiProbe.

Hardware Requirements

Hardware requirements for MultiProbe depend on several factors:

  • Number of monitoring objects
  • Total bitrate of the monitored streams
  • Interface boards in use
  • Number of simultaneous users

Contact Stream Labs for a hardware sizing consultation based on your specific monitoring scheme.

Pre-Installation Checklist

Before installing MultiProbe, ensure the following conditions are met:

  • The monitoring scheme and system structure have been designed — Central Server, Nodes, and workstations (AWS) have been selected
  • Servers have been provisioned with the required OS and software
  • Data sources and visualization devices have been connected to the servers
  • Network access from the Central Server to all adjacent systems has been configured
  • TCP communication between all servers has been enabled
  • HTTP access from AWS to the Central Server has been verified
  • Local access to all Node servers has been provided
  • Antivirus software has been disabled on all servers
  • Firewall exceptions have been configured where required

AWS Requirements

The workstation used for installation (AWS) must have Google Chrome 53+ or Mozilla Firefox 17+ installed. The Central Server itself can also serve as the AWS.

Warning

HTTPS is not supported in the current version. Use HTTP for all internal connections.

Installer Files

MultiProbe is installed using installer files provided by Stream Labs. Each installer deploys one MultiProbe service. Installers are divided into two sets:

  • Central Server installers — see Table 5
  • Node installers — see Table 6

Installer file naming convention:

StreamLabs MP <ServiceName> <X.X.X.XXX>

Where ServiceName is the name of the service and X.X.X.XXX is the version number.

Example: StreamLabs MP Probe Manager Service 7.12.0.123
