6.3 Layouts
Layouts are used when you need to display summarized information about a monitoring object on a dedicated screen (browser window). They are visualization templates linked to a specific object type — for example, a transport stream or a device — and provide a quick overview of an element's status when an alarm situation arises.
A layout does not have to contain results from a single object type; any combination of monitoring results can be included at the user's discretion. Unlike workspaces, layouts are accessible to all user groups that have permission to work with layouts — individual group assignment is not required.
Layouts are divided into system layouts (which cannot be modified by users) and user layouts (which can be freely created and edited). Users can create editable copies of system layouts as a starting point.
Layout Management Screen
To access layouts, go to the Configuration screen and select Layouts in the Workspaces & layouts section. Editing layouts is done similarly to editing workspaces (see Section 6.2).

Creating a Layout
To create a new layout, click the New layout button. Fill in the following fields in the creation window (Figure 195):
- Name — the name of the layout.
- Description — a free-form description.
- Type — the type of object this layout is associated with. Select from the list.
- Analyzer — for certain object types, an associated analyzer must be selected. Choose from the list.
- Disabled — check this option to create the layout in a disabled state.

Once created, the layout editor works the same way as the workspace builder (Section 6.2). Widgets are placed and configured on a grid to build the visualization template.
