Version History — 4.x
Version 4.x is a generation with a fundamentally redesigned architecture. Main changes compared to the 3.x series:
Architecture
- Configuration is stored in files — MS SQL Server is no longer required
- Server services run in the background as Windows services
- VPlay Launcher — a single entry point for the operator: authorization, channel selection, application launch
GPU encoding
- Hardware encoding of all IP outputs via NVIDIA NVENC (GeForce GTX 960+)
- Significant increase in the number of channels per server on the same hardware configuration
- CPU offload: all video processing is moved to the GPU
Graphics engine
- Up to 8 GFX layers at the same time on a channel (previously 1 active scene + a logo)
- Manual GFX — a panel for manual real-time scene control (for live broadcasts, interviews, concerts)
- New objects in Scene Editor:
- PIP — a live source on top of the broadcast
- Timer — count-up and countdown
- Clip metadata —
<text="name"/>,<text="next_name"/>tags and custom fields
- Support for Fill+Key output for professional editing systems
IP broadcasting out of the box
- RTSP, HLS, RTMP, MPEG-DASH — built-in outputs without external encoders
- SRT (Haivision) — secure transmission over unreliable networks
- NDI — stream exchange over a local network
Sources
- Web sources (URLs, webcams, RTMP streams)
- Web URL mode — lightweight stream reception without continuous decoding
Control
- Two broadcast modes: Playlist (looped) and Schedule (time-based), with switching without interrupting the broadcast
- 1+1 redundancy with schedule synchronization through the client application
