Quick Start

This guide takes you from a clean server to your first broadcast. The whole process takes about 30 minutes.

Step 1. Installation

Download the installation file VPlaySetup xx.x.xxxxx.exe from technical support: support@stream-labs.com

Run the installer with administrator rights. In the component selection window, select:

For the broadcast server:

  • ✅ NTP client
  • ✅ VPlay services

For the operator workstation:

  • ✅ VPlay client components

Server and client are different machines

If the operator works remotely, you need to run the installation file twice: on the server (server components) and on the workstation (client components).

After installation, the VPlay service starts automatically and runs in the background — no additional action is required.

Step 2. License Activation

  1. Open VPlay Launcher on the server
  2. Go to Server Settings → License
  3. Enter the license key you received from Stream Labs
  4. Click Apply — the system is activated without a restart

No key?

Without a license, VPlay runs in demo mode: all functions are available, and a watermark is present on the output signal. This is suitable for training and testing.

Step 3. Creating the First Channel

  1. Open VPlay Launcher → Server Settings
  2. Go to the Channels section
  3. Click Add Channel (right-click → Add)
  4. Enter a channel name and select the format: SD, HD, UHD
  5. Specify the GPU for video processing (or Software renderer)
  6. Click Save

Step 4. Connecting a Content Source

  1. In the channel settings, open Media Storages
  2. Click Add Storage and specify a network folder with video files
  3. VPlay indexes the contents automatically

Supported formats: MP4, MXF, MOV, AVI, MPG, and others. For the full list, see the Codec reference.

Step 5. Configuring the Output Signal

IP Output (UDP)

  1. In the channel settings, open Outputs → Add Output → UDP
  2. Specify the recipient IP address and port: udp://192.168.1.100:1234
  3. Select the codec (H.264, H.265), bitrate, and video adapter
  4. Click Save

SDI Output

  1. Outputs → Add Output → SDI
  2. Select the card and output port
  3. Click Save

Step 6. Building the Schedule and Starting

  1. Open VPlay Launcher → Channel Manager
  2. Log in (default: admin / admin)
  3. In the content browser, find the files from the connected storage
  4. Drag the files to the OnAir queue — this is the playlist
  5. Click Play (▶) — the broadcast starts

Done

The channel is on air. The output signal is available at the specified UDP address or on the SDI port.
