Version History — 5.x
5.11
New features
- On-screen subtitle offset — horizontal (
Offset from center) and vertical (Offset from bottom) position settings as a percentage of the screen area. Works for teletext, Closed Captions, Hard and DVB subtitles - Graphics scene "stitching" — a scene whose duration is longer than the clip is no longer interrupted at the clip boundary but transitions smoothly to the next one without restarting the animation. To use it, apply the same scene to several consecutive clips, with the scene duration longer than each of them
- Asset renaming — renaming an asset in PAM also renames the physical file in the storage
Improvements
- Before version 5.11, a scene whose duration was longer than the clip was automatically cut off at the end of the clip. This behavior is now controlled by the Auto stop parameter in the Item Properties window
5.9
Improvements
- SCTE: single output marker — when an SCTE event is output, one marker packet is now generated instead of two. Marker duplication is recommended by the standard, but a number of equipment manufacturers did not support receiving duplicated packets — compatibility has been improved
5.8
New features
- AWS SCTE-35 — support for generating markers in the AWS Elemental MediaLive format. VPlay now supports three types of SCTE output markers: standard, SCTE Chapter, and AWS SCTE-35
- Schedule Item Property — schedule item properties have been moved to a separate "Item properties" window. Custom tags no longer create horizontal columns in the schedule — they are collected in a single window
- PAM: up to 100,000 assets — support for large media archives has been extended
- PAM: asset renaming — renaming with a synchronous change of the physical file name in the storage
- SNMP: Integer support — for Evertz devices, the SNMP plugin now supports Integer values (previously String only); the type is detected automatically by polling the equipment
- HLS: Apple device formats — support for HLS streams specific to Apple devices (HLS Authoring Specification for Apple Devices)
- Redundancy: improved protocol — server synchronization has been optimized when working with Live sources and manual transitions between events in 1+1 mode
5.7
New features
- PAM (PlayOut Asset Manager) — a new media content management system. Instead of standard media folders, it uses Storage and Asset structural units with extended metadata: up to 8 custom tags per asset, Kill Date, Read Only, Audio Preset, Logo Slot, segmentation
- User action log — a separate type of log file that records all operator actions with a channel. It is kept per channel and per date; it is not included in the automatic export
- Fixed Time when inserting a schedule — added the ability to insert a schedule with already configured Fixed Time values directly into an on-air slot
- Offset Schedule — a function for shifting the entire schedule at once, recalculating the start time of each item
Improvements
- New duration recalculation mechanism when editing Timecode In: when the In point is shifted, the duration or the Out point is recalculated at the user's choice (three modes in OnAir Options → Edit Timecode In Mode)
5.6
New features
- Audio preset column in the Channel Manager schedule — assigning a loudness normalization audio preset to a specific occurrence of an item in the schedule
