User Settings — client settings
User Settings is the client application for configuring the operator workstation. It starts from VPlay Launcher. Use it to set server connection parameters, display modes, and the operator's personal settings.
VPlay Launcher
The Launcher is the single entry point to the VPlay system. After logging in, the operator selects a channel and launches the required application.
Authorization
At startup, the Launcher asks for a user name and password. Credentials are created by the administrator in the Users section.
After login, the screen displays:
- The list of channels available to this user
- The status of each channel (on air / stopped / error)
- Launch buttons: Channel Manager, Scene Editor, Server Settings
Adding servers
A single Launcher can manage several VPlay servers. This is convenient when you have several broadcast machines or a pair of servers in redundancy mode.
Adding a single server
- User Settings → Servers → Add Server
- Enter the server IP address or hostname
- Specify the port (7001 by default)
- Click Test to check the connection
- Click Save
Adding a pair of servers in redundancy mode
- User Settings → Servers → Add Redundancy Pair
- Specify the IP of the primary server (Primary) and of the backup server (Backup)
- The Launcher displays both servers as a single logical node
- When switching between Primary and Backup, Channel Manager reconnects automatically
Connection modes
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Primary only | Work with the primary server only |
| Backup only | Work with the backup server only |
| Auto | Automatically select the active server in the redundancy pair |
You can change the mode at any time without interrupting the broadcast — the switch happens on the client side.
Three operator applications
After you select a channel in the Launcher, three applications are available:
Channel Manager
The main working application. Use it for schedule creation, real-time on-air control, working with graphics, and monitoring.
For details, see the Channel Manager section.
Scene Editor
A graphics scene editor for creating logos, tickers, clocks, and animations. The result is saved to the storage and becomes available in Channel Manager immediately.
For details, see the Scene Editor section.
Server Settings (vpControl)
Configuration of server parameters. Available to administrators only.
For details, see the Server configuration section.
User roles
| Role | Channel Manager | Scene Editor | Server Settings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Administrator | Full access | Full access | Full access |
| Operator | Schedule and on-air control | View and edit | No access |
| Viewer | View only | View only | No access |
Permissions are assigned at the server level and can be restricted to specific channels.
