Clip metadata in scenes
VPlay can display information about the current and next schedule items in on-air graphics in real time — automatically, with no manual updates. This is implemented through tags in Scene Editor text objects.
Built-in tags
Add a tag to the Text field of any Static Text object. During playback, VPlay replaces the tag with the actual value:
| Tag | Substituted value |
|---|---|
<text="name"/> |
Name of the current clip |
<text="next_name"/> |
Name of the next clip |
<text="duration"/> |
Duration of the current clip |
<text="time_left"/> |
Remaining playback time |
<text="date"/> |
Current date |
<text="time"/> |
Current time |
Usage example
Text in Scene Editor:
Now: <text="name"/>
Next: <text="next_name"/>
Displayed on air as:
Now: Evening News 20:00
Next: Sports Review
Custom metadata fields
Each file in PAM can be assigned arbitrary metadata fields. In Scene Editor they are available through the <text="user:FIELD_NAME"/> tag.
Adding a field in PAM
- In Channel Manager, open Content Property for the file
- Go to the Custom Fields tab
- Click Add → enter the field name and value
- Click Save
Using it in Scene Editor
Director: <text="user:director"/>
Rating: <text="user:rating"/>
Language: <text="user:language"/>
Mixing text styles
A single text object can combine static text and tags with different formatting — for example, to show the program name in bold:
Now on air: **<text="name"/>**
Bold, italic, size, and color are set through formatting tags inside the Text field.
Tags for segmented content
When using segmented files (split into parts through Channel Player), the metadata shows information for the specific segment rather than the whole file:
<text="name"/> → segment name (if set) or file name
<text="duration"/> → duration of the current segment
